There were a lot of positives to take away from Thursday night's preseason tilt against the New York Jets at Lincoln Financial Field. Chief among them was that the Eagles won, 10-9.
Besides that, there were some notable individual performances that the Eagles can feel good about heading into the regular season:
QB Joe Callahan
Callahan rebounded from an interception earlier in the game to orchestrate an 11-play, 68-yard drive that culminated with a 4-yard touchdown pass to running back Matt Jones with 18 seconds left in the game.
In total, Callahan completed 18 of 26 passes for 164 yards.
DE Steven Means
Means showcased just how much depth the Eagles have along their defensive line by collecting three sacks, including one that resulted in a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Kyle Wilson.
CB Chandon Sullivan
The rookie out of Georgia State made the biggest play of his young career Thursday with an interception that ended a productive Jets possession.
P Cameron Johnston
The Australian had yet another good showing by averaging 55 yards per punt. His longest went for 67.
LBs Joe Walker and LaRoy Reynolds
Walker and Reynolds could have their individual spotlights, but they worked so well together Thursday night that it felt right to combine their performances into one.
Against the Jets, Walker and Reynolds combined for 10 tackles in the most action they have seen on defense during the preseason.
