Roster Move: Eagles sign Caden Sterns to the practice squad

Roster Moves

The Eagles announced changes to the practice squad on Wednesday, signing safety Caden Sterns and releasing tight end Jack Stoll. There is still an open spot on the Eagles' practice squad following Wednesday's transactions.

Sterns signed with the Eagles on August 11, but was unable to practice in Training Camp due to a knee injury. He was waived during the roster cutdown but returned to the practice squad until the Eagles released him on September 3.

Sterns was a fifth-round pick of the Broncos in 2021. He played as a rookie for Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio, who was the Broncos' head coach in 2021. Sterns suffered a torn patellar tendon in Week 1 last season and was activated off of the Physically Unable to Perform list on July 27.

"He was a good player. Moved well. Had good instincts. Good ball skills. Had a good feel for the game. We just need to see where he's at physically," Fangio said shortly after Sterns initially signed with the Eagles in Training Camp.

Sterns appeared in 20 games for the Broncos, garnering 49 tackles and four interceptions.

Stoll rejoined the Eagles after the New York Giants waived him during the final roster cutdown. The only Eagle to make the Week 1 roster as an undrafted rookie in 2021, Stoll played in 50 games (26 starts) over three seasons. He caught 20 passes for 183 yards during that time.

The Eagles defeated the Packers 34-29 in the NFL's first-ever game played in South America on September 6. Check out some of the best photos from the special night in São Paolo, Brazil.
