The Eagles have a day off on Saturday before they embark on a busy stretch heading into their first preseason game next Friday at Baltimore (7:30 PM, COZI in the Philadelphia market). However, the personnel staff continued to manage the roster as the team announced that it waived rookie tight end McCallan Castles with an injury designation.

Signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft, Castles spent six seasons in the college ranks, beginning at California before transferring to UC Davis and Tennessee for the 2023 campaign. Last year, Castles caught a career-high five touchdowns on 22 receptions and 283 yards. With the UC Davis Aggies, Castles was a two-time, second-team All-Big Sky selection.

The Eagles have not announced a corresponding roster move. Following the loss of Castles, there are five tight ends on the roster – Grant Calcaterra, Dallas Goedert, E.J. Jenkins, Albert Okwuegbunam, and C.J. Uzomah.

UPDATE: The Eagles claimed rookie tight end Kevin Foelsch off waivers from the Jets to take Castles' roster spot.

Nearly 50,000 fans turned what would have been a quiet summer Thursday night into a loud, frenetic gameday-like atmosphere at Lincoln Financial Field for the Public Practice.
