Eagles nominate George Mateo for NFL's Salute to Service Award
George Mateo is a Game Day Staff Supervisor for the Philadelphia Eagles who served in the United States Army. George volunteers with an organization called Team Red White & Blue (RWB), whose mission is: To enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Through this group, he participates in several local and national events with ties to veterans and veteran families. Such as the Travis Manion 9/11 Heroes Run, Run as One PTSD/Suicide Awareness, 500 for the Fallen, VetHack Ruck March, and The Day We Remember Run/Walk.
While activities are mostly physical in nature, RWB partners with the Travis Manion Foundation in community clean-ups in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia, with the Salvation Army sorting toys, and with local soup kitchens to deliver and serve meals to shelters throughout the City of Philadelphia. One of the highlights, for George as a member of Team RWB, is running the game ball with the West Point Marathon team from the Art Museum to Lincoln Financial Field the night prior to the Army-Navy Game. Mateo is pictured above with longtime Philadelphia sports anchor Michael Barkann and Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Brian Dawkins.

Tailgate with the Troops, presented by Campbell's Chunky
Before Sunday's game against the Giants, the Eagles and Campbell's Chunky will host a virtual tailgate for 25 USO families. Eagles alumni and some other special surprise guests will take part in a Q&A. Campbell's Chef Omar Rivera will provide a virtual cooking demonstration, teaching the USO families how to make the classic Campbell's Chunky tailgate dip. The families from the USO will receive their own ingredients to make the dip at home for the game thanks to the Eagles, Campbell's Chunky, and ACME. Campbell's knows how important military families are to the community. Sunday's tailgate event provides another opportunity to build the bond between the Eagles, Campbell's, and these special military families.
