Teammates Weigh In On Vick's Impact

While head coach Andy Reid said he hadn't determined what role, if any, Michael Vick will play in Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Vick's teammates are excited about the added dimension No. 7 brings to the table.

"He could pass, he could run. He could do all the stuff Michael Vick does," right tackle Winston Justice said. "He's a great athlete, and I think teams will look at him as a threat, a double-threat."

If Vick plays Sunday, his snaps figure to come in Philadelphia's version of the wildcat offense, which he worked in during a pair of preseason appearances.

It's worth noting that the Chiefs run a traditional 3-4 defense, similar to the one Vick and Co. faced against the Jets in the preseason finale. In that contest, Vick took direct snaps and ran the football for first downs and even a touchdown. He also enjoyed great success while rolling left on a run/pitch option play. He can also throw the ball out of the spread formation, as he did against Jacksonville.

"When he's in there, he's a quarterback first and foremost," center Jamaal Jackson said. "Whatever he can do with his legs is a plus."

A three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, Vick has not played a regular season game since Dec. 31, 2006 with Atlanta.

"I'm sure he's very excited," said quarterback Kevin Kolb. "He doesn't know how much we're going to use him either, if at all. He's just waiting around and seeing, making sure he's ready. He still has that calm confidence because he did dominate this league at one point and so, he can always lean back on that. He's definitely got the talent to do special things."

Vick and Kolb worked together at times during the Jets game, and they may team up again Sunday.

"To be honest, if I told you something I'd be lying," Kolb said. "I really don't know what we have in store for him. I'm sure the coaches have something, but I have no clue."

Vick's ability to reverse field and make things happen is enough to give opposing defensive coordinators nightmares.

"I think a lot of guys already have confidence in him," said wide receiver Jason Avant. "I believe he's going to be an outstanding player, the same player he was before he left. Hopefully he can help us win this week and I believe he's going to do his best to try to."

Added right guard Max Jean-Gilles: "He's ready. Everybody thinks he needs a little bit more time, but he's ready."
