The Eagles received the second-half kickoff and immediately went to work moving down the field. A five-yard run by LeSean McCoy, who re-entered the game after a brief hamstring injury, started the drive. A Foles' scramble for seven yards and a first down followed. The Eagles would continue to break off chunks of yards with a mix of runs and passes, converting one third down and a fourth-and-1 in the process, thanks to a short gain by Bryce Brown. The two longest plays were a 16-yard completion to Zach Ertz on third down and a 22-yard completion to DeSean Jackson. It took 12 plays to move the ball down to the 1-yard line, where McCoy would punch it in for a touchdown. A methodical thirteen plays, 80 yards, 5:19 of elapsed time and a 24-0 Eagles lead.
The Redskins could not get anything going during their first possession of the second half. Following a five-yard pass for a first down from Robert Griffin III to Nick Williams, the offense stalled. The Eagles' pass rush was able to generate pressure, and Griffin III was sacked by Trent Cole, his second of the game, on second down. On third-and-16, Griffin III completed a short pass to Roy Helu, Jr., who was promptly tackled by two Eagles, with Kurt Coleman forcing a fumble. Tight end Logan Paulsen would recover, but well short of the first down marker and the Redskins were forced to punt.
On their second possession of the second half, the Eagles offense had their first three-and-out of the game. McCoy was stuffed for a loss of three yards, then Foles was sacked for a loss of 11. The Eagles called a run up the middle for McCoy on third-and-22, which gained seven yards. On came the punt team. Donnie Jones boomed one 49 yards, and Nick Williams muffed the catch, before recovering at the Redskins' 26.
The Redskins' second possession of the second half got off to a good start, with Griffin III hitting Pierre Garcon for a 21-yard catch-and-run down the middle of the field. The offense could not get anything else going, however. A first-down pass to Williams was incomplete, followed by a two-yard loss on a run by Alfred Morris. On third down, with the pocket collapsing around him, Griffin III overthrew an open Santana Moss near the Eagles' 30-yard line, and the Redskins were forced to punt once again.
DeSean Jackson called for a fair catch at the 8-yard line, where the offense took over. McCoy picked up nine yards on first and second down, but on third down Brown was stopped by Ryan Kerrigan for a loss of one yard. For the second straight drive, the Eagles went three-and-out and had to punt. Jones' punt went 45 yards and was downed at the Redskins' 39.
Griffin III and the Redskins offense took over and tried to set up a screen to the left on first down. Najee Goode got his hand on the pass to deflect it, and Fletcher Cox dove to make the interception – or so it seemed. Upon review, it was clear that the ball hit the ground, and the call was overturned. The Redskins would run two more plays and be faced with a third-and-2 heading into the fourth quarter, with the score still 24-0, Eagles.
