Defensive end Darryl Tapp was limited in Thursday's practice after being a full participant on Wednesday, but defensive coordinator Juan Castillo was confident that Tapp will start Sunday in place of the injured Trent Cole at right defensive end.
Tapp is set to return to the lineup for the first time since the season opener against the Rams. Tapp suffered a pectoral strain in that game and didn't practice until last week. Cole has not practiced this week due to a calf strain suffered Sunday against the 49ers.
"He looked good," Castillo said of Tapp's performance in Wednesday's practice. "I looked over there and I didn't know who that was rushing. I said, 'Woah' because he finished off pretty good before he got hurt. He looks good."
Offensive tackle Jason Peters also did not participate in practice due to a hamstring strain. King Dunlap is set to start in Peters' place on Sunday.
Defensive end Juqua Parker was limited in practice for a second straight day. He is recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the Week 2 game in Atlanta.
Tight end Brent Celek's status improved from a limited participant Wednesday to a full participant on Thursday. Celek is on the injury report with an undisclosed illness.
The following players were also listed on the injury report Thursday as full participants: safety Nate Allen (knee), wide receiver Jason Avant (shoulder), wide receiver Riley Cooper (hamstring), linebacker Moise Fokou (neck), cornerback Brandon Hughes (hamstring), defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (tricep), offensive tackle Winston Justice (knee), defensive tackle Mike Patterson (knee), wide receiver Steve Smith (knee) and quarterback Michael Vick (left finger).
BILLS REPORT: CB McGEE ON TRACK
With starting left tackle Demetrius Bell (shoulder) not playing in Sunday's game, the Bills are hoping that starting center Eric Wood (ankle) will be able to play.
The third-year center did not participate on Wednesday, but was limited Thursday. Starting inside linebacker Nick Barnett was limited with an ankle injury. Outside linebacker Shawne Merriman was limited with a shoulder injury. Second-year change-of-pace back C.J. Spiller was limited with a knee injury. Reserve wide receiver Ruvell Martin was limited with a knee injury. Slot cornerback Aaron Williams did not participate due to a chest injury.
Defensive tackle Torell Troup (lower back) was a new addition to the injury report and did not participate in Thursday's workout.
The following Bills were listed as full participants in Thursday's practice: linebacker Chris Kelsay (calf), cornerback Terrance McGee (hamstring) and guard Kraig Urbik (knee).
McGee's status is important because he's their top cornerback, but has not played in 2011 so far because of the hamstring injury.
