What We Know:Brent Celek has emerged as one of the premier tight ends in the league. After an off-season spent studying various tight ends around the league, Celek has made a name for himself with his own play. He is third in the NFL in receptions with 22, and he's amassed 245 receiving yards already. Celek has displayed tremendous toughness after the catch, consistently churning for an extra yards with defenders on his back. He has also proved to be a more-than-capable blocker. Alex Smith is a solid complement to Celek, and he's a very good route runner with good hands.
What Needs To Be Resolved: Can Celek keep up his hot start? Dating back to right before last year's playoffs, Celek has been on quite a roll of production. If he can keep up the pace throughout the entire season, he will be a household name by the end of the year.
Will Smith become more involved in the offense? After joining the team right before the start of the season, Smith seems to have picked up the offense well, but as he becomes more comfortable, will offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg rely on him more.
Finally, can the Eagles get through the season with only two tight ends? If Celek or Smith gets banged up at any point, the team may need to bring in another player to contribute at tight end. Former Cleveland Browns tight end Martin Rucker is currently on the practice squad.
