Eagles and Phillies Partner on Special Co-Branded T-Shirt To Benefit Jefferson Breast Care Center
The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off its 2009 Tackling Breast Cancer (TBC) initiative by announcing a special partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies. Together, the two sports organizations are teaming up to support the Jefferson Breast Care Center.
The cornerstone of the partnership is a co-branded T-shirt that features the Philadelphia skyline with both team logos. The T-shirt, unveiled at a press conference Tuesday, will be available throughout October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month. "Working with the Philadelphia Phillies was a natural. Both teams share a strong commitment to the community. We wanted to do something unique for our partner, Jefferson, the city of Philadelphia, and our fans, and with the help of our neighbors, I think we've achieved that," said Philadelphia Eagles President Joe Banner. "We all know the sports fans in this region are second to none, not just in terms of their passion for sports, but also in terms of their generosity. During the past six seasons, our fans and partners have raised more than $1 million through the Tackling Breast Cancer program."
"Through this new partnership with the Eagles, we have the opportunity to take our support of breast cancer awareness and fundraising beyond Mother's Day and into the month of October," said Phillies President David Montgomery. "It is our hope that through this collective effort, sports fans will join together, like our teams have, to help make a difference in the fight against breast cancer."
During the next two Eagles home games on Oct. 11 and Nov. 1, volunteer nurses and staff from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will be selling TBC merchandise, including a pink sideline hat, an original scarf and other TBC items throughout Lincoln Financial Field.
From cheerleaders boasting pink pom-poms to players wearing pink sideline hats and using pink towels, the awareness in the stadium for this cause will be hard to miss.
The co-branded T-shirt will be available for $20 in both teams' stores – the Lincoln Financial Field Pro Shop and the Citizens Bank Park Majestic Clubhouse Store, as well as other in-park locations.
Fans can also purchase the shirts through Phillies.com or PhiladelphiaEagles.com throughout the month of October or while supplies last.
