Michael Vick was spectacular in his first meeting with the Cowboys back in Week 8, a decisive 34-7 victory. Having passed for 279 yards and two touchdowns on an efficient 21-for-28 day when the teams met on October 30, Vick is not worried about his individual performance in Saturday's annual rematch against the Cowboys. Securing a victory is the only thing on his mind.
"It can be very different when you play a team the second time around," Vick said on Thursday. "Dallas has a good sound defense. They always come to play and they do a lot of good things. We have to go out and really execute against them."
Executing on gameday was something the Eagles of earlier this season simply could not do on a consistent basis. Now, they've hit their groove and are playing better than they have all season.
"We bring a lot to the table when we come to play," said the veteran quarterback. "We haven't lost confidence and we haven't wavered from what we try to do on Sundays. We know what type of talent we have and our coaching staff knows exactly what needs to be done in order to have success.
"We're playing our best football right now and everybody in this locker room is responsible for that."
With two games left and the playoffs surprisingly still within reach for the 6-8 Eagles, Vick is preaching focus to his teammates. With two more weeks of mistake-free football, and a little help, the Eagles could find themselves playing games into the ides of January, and hopefully past that point.
"We feel good about what we're doing right now," said a determined Vick. "We are in no way pleased about our situation, but we still have a shot. We just need to go out there, be prepared, and take advantage of our opportunities."
