President Barack Obama had some advice for quarterback Michael Vick - to slide.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha told reporters on Wednesday that he met Obama at a recent function in Oakland and the President asked to pass along the suggestion.
Upon hearing that the President offered football advice, Vick said on Thursday following the team's first practice that it was "awesome" to be recognized. Vick has already heard from his fans, his mother and his head coach among many others that he needs to slide to protect himself. For the President to make a statement made Vick think, "He's got a point."
"I'm sliding! If the President of the United States says slide, I'm sliding," Vick said. "Trust me."
Could Obama have made the suggestion because he's a Bears fan?
"Understood, (but) we admire what each other do," Vick said. "We'll try to make him an Eagles fan after this season."
Vick was reminded that the team that wins the Super Bowl gets to meet the President at the White House.
"It would be awesome. It would be a dream come true," Vick said. "That might be my opportunity to meet him."
