Vick: Turnovers Have Been The Key

When Michael Vick's pass was intercepted by Bears safety Major Wright in the second quarter of Monday's loss to the Bears, it was the seventh time this season that the Eagles came away with no points in the red zone. It was the Eagles' sixth turnover inside the opponents' 20-yard line, which leads the league.

The Eagles boast the league's third-best offense in terms of yards, but they rank ninth in points per game. Those turnovers are one reason for the team's inability to capitalize on some winnable games this season.

"Things happen for a reason. You can only control what you can control. I don't think defenses are playing me differently. Things are pretty much the same. We have more turnovers this year than we do last year," Vick said. "That's been the key."

In his return to stardom last season, Vick threw six interceptions all season while completing 62.6 percent of his passes for a career-high 3,018 yards. Believe it or not, Vick is on pace to become the first quarterback in franchise history to crack the 4,000-yard plateau and has completed virtually the same percentage of his pass attempts (62.0). But he has nine interceptions and three lost fumbles, which was the same amount of lost fumbles that he had in all of 2010.

"I know we have had opportunities to win games and when you're in position you have to take full advantage of it," Vick said. "Going out there on the football field and getting it done has been our biggest problem."

Any attempt to build momentum for the second half of the season must start with a win Sunday against Arizona. The Cardinals come to Lincoln Financial Field with a 2-6 record and it looks like they won't have former Eagle Kevin Kolb at quarterback, who is battling a sprained foot and turf toe. Sunday can't get here fast enough for Vick.

"I just want to go out and win the next game," Vick said. "Do it cohesively as a unit collectively and not try to do everything on my own. In order to win in this league, you have to play as a team."
