Watkins, Curry Inactive vs. Falcons

After a week of speculation, rookie defensive end Vinny Curry will have to wait at least one more week before making his debut. Fellow defensive end Phillip Hunt was questionable to play with a calf injury all week, but will suit up today against the Falcons.

But perhaps the biggest news is that the Eagles will be without right guard Danny Watkins. He will be replaced in the lineup by rookie Dennis Kelly. Watkins was listed as doubtful with an ankle injury on Friday, and had not practiced since Wednesday. Kelly received the reps at right guard late in the week. He will make his first career start.

Wide receiver and punt returner Damaris Johnson is also inactive, which likely means receiver Mardy Gilyard will return punts for the Eagles. Center Matt Tennant, who was signed Tuesday, is active.

Rounding out the Eagles' inactives are: running back Dion Lewis, offensive lineman Nate Menkin, quarterback Trent Edwards and linebacker Jamar Chaney.

On the other side of the field, the Falcons are welcoming back starting defensive tackle Corey Peters. After sustaining a left foot injury in the offseason, Peters was removed from the Falcons' Reserve/Non-Football Injury list and added to the active roster. However, the Falcons will be without slot receiver Harry Douglas.

The other inactives for the Falcons are: quarterback Dominique Davis, center Joe Hawley, tackle Lamar Holmes, defensive tackle Travian Robertson and defensive end Cliff Matthews. Cornerback Terrence Johnson was waived to make room for Peters on the active roster.
