The Good: Well-sized possession receiver with reliable hands. Effectively uses his frame to shield away opponents and comes away with the difficult reception in a crowd. Nicely adjusts to the errant throw, gets down to scoop up the low pass or vertical, and out- jumps defenders to grab the ball. Effortlessly makes the reception running full speed, catches the pass away from his frame, and looks the ball into his hands. Plays with excellent balance, body control, and knows where he is on the field. Displays good overall awareness in his game. Shows himself to be a very effective blocker downfield.
The Bad: Lacks the quick release off the line, does not show sharpness into breaks nor possesses a burst.
The Verdict: After two incredibly productive seasons, Benn struggled with injuries and inconsistency as a junior in 2009. He possesses the size and skill to be a number two/possession receiver in the NFL. Likely to be under-drafted, yet he has the ability to eventually start on the NFL level.
