WR Brandon LaFell, Louisiana State | |||||
Pos. Rank: 6 | Grade: 2nd Round | Height: 6-2 1/2 | Weight: 211 | 40: 4.58 | Year: 4-Sr. |
The Good: Large, smooth pass catcher with consistent hands. Graceful moving about the field, comes back to the ball out of breaks, and nicely adjusts to the errant throw. Comes back into the clearing to make himself an available target, lays out for the difficult catch, and consistently extends in order to make the reception away from his frame. Displays outstanding focus, plays with excellent balance, and possesses both soft and strong hands, which he uses to snatch the ball from the air. Strong running after the reception.
The Bad: Did not show a lot of toughness in his game last season and at times was reduced to finishing plays by running out of bounds. Gives marginal effort blocking and does not get the results he should. One-speed receiver best running underneath patterns.
The Verdict: LaFell possesses the size and skill to be a productive second receiver on the NFL level. He has the tools to see action early in his NFL career, and if LaFell learns to do the little things well, he will be very productive at the next level.
