The Eagles landed the "biggest prize" of free agency in cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, according to the cover of the August 8 edition of Sports Illustrated which features the four-time All-Pro in midnight green. Damon Hack wrote the feature for the magazine.
This is the 18th time an Eagle has graced the cover of the prestigious magazine. Quarterback Michael Vick was on it during the 2010 season as his comeback was deemed the "most compelling" in the NFL.
Asomugha was rumored to be heading to the Jets or the Cowboys, but the Eagles quietly swooped in and landed the star with a five-year contract. Asomugha was a first-round pick of the Raiders in 2003 and has never been to the playoffs. He will man the right cornerback spot in Philadelphia as he hopes to bring the city its first Lombardi Trophy.
