The National Football League's My Cause My Cleats campaign, now in its ninth season, is an annual initiative that empowers players to showcase their commitment to the causes they support through creative artwork and custom designs on their game cleats. To recognize and celebrate the positive impact players are having across the country, the Philadelphia Eagles will join the NFL community by lacing up their custom cleats on Sunday, December 1 in Baltimore. The team will then return to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, December 8, where coaches and support staff will help turn autism awareness into action by sporting Eagles Autism Foundation-inspired sneakers on the sideline.
"My Cause My Cleats is an opportunity for NFL players to call attention to the important work being done by the charitable organizations they support," said Eagles All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson. "We are lucky to have great leaders around the league, especially here in Philadelphia starting with Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie (Chairman and CEO of the Eagles), who have given us a platform to help raise awareness for the issues we are passionate about off the field. I am proud to join my teammates and the NFL family as we look to shine a light on the many causes around the world that need our support."
My Cause My Cleats celebrates the positive impact that players have made in communities across America and provides players with an opportunity to highlight the cause-related work they are passionate about on the field.
This year, Eagles players will raise awareness for several important causes such as autism, cancer prevention, mental health, and youth development, among others.
For the eighth consecutive year, the team's philanthropic arm, which has raised more than $30 million for cutting-edge autism research and care programs, will be displayed on Nike sneakers with a customized Eagles Autism Foundation color scheme. The sneakers will be worn by coaches, trainers, ownership, and staff in Week 14.
Images of the cleats and the inspirational stories behind them will be shared on social media using the hashtag #MyCauseMyCleats. Game-used cleats will be auctioned at NFL Auction, where 100 percent of the proceeds raised will be donated to charities selected by the players.
