Panthers vs. Eagles Injury Report

"Count me in."

DeVonta Smith will return to the starting lineup on Sunday after missing the past two games with a hamstring injury.

"Two weeks off, good break, so I feel fresh," added Smith, who happened to be Panthers quarterback Bryce Young's road game trip roommate at Alabama.

The Eagles also welcome the return of cornerback Darius "Big Play" Slay, who missed last Sunday's win over the Ravens with a concussion.

However, the Eagles will be without safeties Reed Blankenship (concussion) and Sydney Brown (knee), wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey (neck), and tight end Dallas Goedert (knee).

Tristin McCollum entered the game for Blankenship in the win over the Ravens and is in line to start, especially with Brown sidelined as well. Avonte Maddox also has safety experience if the Eagles want experience in the backfield. The Eagles also have rookie Andre Sam on the practice squad.

"Tristin is a guy that I think has good talent, good ability to play the position," Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said earlier this week. "I think he can be a good safety,"

With Covey sidelined, Cooper DeJean is in place to return punts, as he did earlier this season when Covey was out with a shoulder injury.

Grant Calcaterra has started at tight end due to injury this season. The Eagles signed veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah to the active roster for added depth this week.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced Brandon Graham as its nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award presented by Nationwide. Considered one of the league's most prestigious honors, the award recognizes an NFL player for outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field.

Starting RG Robert Hunt added to Panthers' Injury Report

The Panthers added starting right guard Robert Hunt to the injury report on Friday and listed him as questionable with a back injury.

It should be noted, however, that Hunt was still a full participant in practice.

Hunt would match up against Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter on Sunday.

Hunt is one of seven Panthers listed as questionable for the game, including edge rushers Jadeveon Clowney (knee) and D.J. Wonnum (knee), and linebacker Josey Jewell (hamstring).

Clowney did not practice all week. Wonnum was upgraded to a full participant on Friday. Jewell returned to action on Friday in limited fashion after missing Thursday's practice.

The Eagles have been hard at work in preparation for their matchup with the Panthers on Sunday. Check out these exclusive photos from the team's workouts and practices this week.

Darius Slay is one step closer to making a return to the lineup as he was a full participant at Thursday's practice.

Slay missed the win over the Ravens with a concussion.

Unfortunately, a concussion could keep another member of the secondary sidelined this Sunday against the Panthers. Safety Reed Blankenship did not participate in Thursday's practice after suffering a concussion on Sunday against the Ravens. Tristin McCollum went into the game for Blankenship on Sunday and came up with a key fourth-down pass breakup.

Blankenship, fellow safety Sydney Brown (knee), and tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) were the only Eagles who did not practice on Thursday.

Wide receivers Britain Covey (neck) and Johnny Wilson (hamstring) were limited. Covey was upgraded after not participating in Wednesday's practice. Wilson was limited for a second day in a row.

Everyone else was full, including wide receiver DeVonta Smith, providing more encouragement that he will play after missing the wins over the Rams and the Ravens with a hamstring injury.

Panthers signal-caller on defense sidelined Thursday

Starting inside linebacker Josey Jewell, who wears the green dot headset to hear the calls from coaches, was downgraded on Thursday. After practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday with a hamstring injury, Jewell joined outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney on the sidelines. Clowney has not yet practiced this week due to a knee injury.

Offensive tackle Taylor Moton also did not practice, but he is given a rest day on Thursdays. He was not on the injury report on Wednesday.

Wide receiver Jalen Coker was also downgraded from a full participant to a limited participant with a quadriceps injury.

It looks like the Eagles will get one of their top offensive playmakers back in the lineup on Sunday when the team returns home to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Carolina Panthers.

The Eagles held a walkthrough on Wednesday, so the injury report is an estimation, but if they held a full practice, wide receiver DeVonta Smith would have been a full participant.

Smith has been out for the last two games with a hamstring injury. The Slim Reaper is second on the team in both receptions (41) and receiving yards (516), while being tied for first with four touchdown catches.

Fellow wide receiver Johnny Wilson, who also missed Sunday's win over the Ravens with a hamstring injury, would have been limited in Wednesday's practice.

Cornerback Darius Slay, who suffered a concussion in the win over Los Angeles two weeks ago, would have been a limited participant as he remains in the protocol.

Unfortunately, tight end Dallas Goedert would have missed practice with a knee injury that he incurred Sunday in Baltimore. The Eagles signed tight end C.J. Uzomah from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday.

"We'll see on Dallas as the week continues on," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said. "As far as C.J. goes, veteran. What a great teammate he is. As you look back and you talk to teams that he's been on as we got him here on this team, everyone says the same thing: What a great teammate.

"I think you could ask his teammates, particularly in the tight end room and the offense, what type of guy he is, and they'd say the same thing: Great teammate. Glue guy. Has done some nice things on special teams and has taken advantage of some of the opportunities he's had.

"Had a really good play in four-minute the other day that he came through and led through on a block on a really good player and was able to get movement there.

"He just brings veteran reliability, and, again, bringing guys together on the football team. And then, he's had some big production where we know if we can throw him the ball, he can do something with it and make plays. And then what he does as a blocker."

Safeties Reed Blankenship (concussion) and Sydney Brown (knee), and wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey (neck) also would have missed practice on Wednesday.
