RB Ben Tate, Auburn | |||||
Pos. Rank: 9 | Grade: 3rd Round | Height: 5-11 | Weight: 220 | 40: 4.43 | Year: 5-Sr. |
The Good: Nice-sized interior running back who has flashed the ability to take over games since his sophomore season. Runs with an aggressive style, follows blocks everywhere on the field and displays both running vision and instincts. Patiently waits for blocks to develop, finds the cutback lanes, and shows a burst through the hole. Flashes the ability to run away from defenders in the open field. Effectively uses a straight arm to keep runs alive, and falls forward when tackled. Displays the strength to break tackles and pick up yardage off initial contact.
The Bad: He's not a creative or elusive runner who makes something out of nothing. Plays
hot and cold at times. Seems to go down rather easily or not pick up yardage when it is available to him.
The Verdict: Tate has been a ball-carrier who's teased scouts the past two seasons. He possesses the size/speed numbers to be a starter at the next level and has flashed ability. Tate could eventually find his way to the top of the depth chart if he plays hard for 60 minutes.
