Head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media following a condensed 10-10-10 practice this morning and expressed his eagerness for tonight's Flight Night! at Lincoln Financial Field.
Tonight, beginning at 7 p.m., the team will put on their pads and practice in front of an excited crowd. The Eagles have a bevy of new faces, so a lot of players will be stepping onto Lincoln Financial Field for the first time.
"I think it's a great changeup for the players," Reid said. "It gets them on the home field before you get to the pre-season games and it gives them, especially the new guys, an opportunity to get a little bit of the lay of land of the stadium and the locker room and then the fans, how close they are to the field. The whole thing, it just puts them in a place where we're going to ask them to perform at their best and it gives them a little heads up beforehand."
Reid said that the team will approach it like a normal practice and that the players will be in full pads and "banging away."
"It should be exciting for our fans to come see that," he said.
Still, there will certainly be an added element of excitement for the players.
"When they get in the stadium and in front of the fans, they do get fired up," Reid said.
The following players did not participate in this morning's practice: Todd Herremans (foot), Jamaal Jackson (knee), Victor Abiamiri (knee), A.Q. Shipley (ankle), DeSean Jackson (back), Asante Samuel (hamstring), Antonio Dixon (concussion), Macho Harris (hamstring), Martin Rucker (hamstring), Jeremy Maclin (knee) and Mike Bell (hamstring).
