As he gets ready for his first career game against Dallas, Chip Kelly updated the injury status of his team on Monday afternoon, saying that Michael Vick's snaps in practice will be determined based on his health. The head coach also said that he does not expect Jason Peters, Patrick Chung or Chris Polk to be full participants in Tuesday's practice.
Regarding Vick, Kelly said he had not yet spoken to Vick on Monday about his hamstring. When questioned about who would be the team's starting quarterback against Dallas, Kelly responded that he won't know until he sees his team practice.
"Until we know what the health is I'm not saying what anybody is," Kelly explained. "All of my decisions are made - whether it's James Casey with a groin or Mike with a hamstring or Chris Polk with a shoulder - all of our decisions on who is going to play are based on health."
For Chung, Sunday's game against Tampa Bay was his first game back since suffering a shoulder contusion against Kansas City. Chung appeared to re-aggravate that injury against the Buccaneers, and Kelly and his staff will be keeping a close eye on him moving forward.
"We are concerned when anybody's hurt," said Kelly. "He missed (two) games and he didn't finish this last game, so it's obviously a concern for us."
Polk and Peters were also injured during Sunday's game, both with shoulder issues. Peters was able to return to action, but Polk was not able to go.
"Polk has got a shoulder," Kelly said. "I hope that he's back this week but I don't think that he will be full tomorrow, and I don't think Jason Peters will be full tomorrow but I expect Jason to be back on Wednesday."
